"Peace! Be Still!" Podcast Takes Off!

Dear Reader,

Allow me to introduce myself. My name is Stacy Lane, and I am hosting the new podcast Peace, Be Still for Tie a Knot Ministries and Great I Am Outreach International. It is produced by Rebirth4Love. I'm super excited for this opportunity!

We're going to look at how people with mental illness or mental health issues have interacted with the church. We will do many interviews and allow people to share their testimony and really how Christ has set them free. We will talk about their experiences within their churches and discuss what the church is doing well, and what the church needs to improve. Honestly it will be a great starting point for online ministry to those with mental health needs, particularly for people needing help that live in areas where there are professional shortages within the mental health arena of services. It will encourage peer support services across the United States.

Our first episode of the podcast dropped tonight. I am a little nervous because you never know how people will react. Particularly people who know you. Sometimes they are the most critical.

I've been on quite a journey dealing with mental illness and mental health myself. What I know is, there is healing in Christ, and the church is the body of Christ, and therefore, the church should be a place of healing and hope. I've been blessed to be a part of several churches with members who have been the hands and feet of Jesus to me, and even if I'm not walking with them in this current season, I am still eternally grateful.

Sometimes, we know the words of Bible verses and stories in our minds very well, but translating them into living breathing transforming truths in our hearts is a little tricky. That is definitely when you have to rely on the Holy Spirit's power to come in.

I know the story of Jesus speaking "Peace! Be Still!" to the storm on the sea very well. I know that Jesus and his disciples were in a boat, a storm came and was sinking the ship, and Jesus was snoozing underneath the deck. I can only imagine the fear I would have had if I'd been a disciple worrying about the boat sinking, and I can only imagine the fear I would have been struck by in awe of a man who just spoke to the sea and calmed it with a word. Who then is this, indeed.

I've had a lot of storms I've sailed through in life. I'm sure I'll be sharing more as we go on. I will say in every storm, God has been faithful. Even when my faith has waivered, God has been faithful to hold me.

Some of my favorite verses are in Philippians 4:6-7.
do not be anxious about anything, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God. And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.

To me, those verses are saying it is through prayer and grateful supplication to the Father that you will experience the peace of God in your heart and mind. There is a way to not live in fear, but have peace. That way is paved through the discipline of prayer, prayer that connects you to the living God and unites you to the saving power and grace of His son, Jesus Christ.

If there is some way I can help others experience God's peace, if there is some way God can use the few words I offer to bring others closer to Himself... I'm willing to serve Him.

There are a lot of folks looking for peace in our world, with or without mental illness, and they need help finding the Prince of Peace. My prayer is that if you know the Prince of Peace yourself, you will share Him with those around you. You just never know who may be hurting on the inside that needs to know that Christ died to bring them into a loving relationship with Him.

Please pray for me, this podcast, Rebirth4Love, Tie a Knot Ministries and Great I Am Outreach International. Be patient as I learn to juggle everything in my life. Thank you for a few moments of your time.
